La Monnaie and the Queen Elisabeth College of Music have set up a top class Opera Studio in Brussels, in order to prepare the most promising young singers for the
vocal, physical and stage requirements involved in a career as an opera singer. Around 12 singers, whose ability is equivalent to graduation level from a European conservatoire, will be enrolled at the Opera Studio for a period of one to two years. This fits in with the creation of a shared plateform, in the shape of a new Foundation, by six prestigious Belgian institutions : the Queen Elisabeth Music College, the National Opera La Monnaie, the Queen Elisabeth international music competition ,the Euphonia Foundation, the Palais des Beaux-arts and the Philharmonic Society, to discover a new generation of exceptionally talented young musicians. This new Foundation will focuss on three goals : provide the selected young musicians with the highest standard of personalised music training; accompany them at the beginning of their carreer under the best conditions and offer them promotion and performing opportunities.
